Way before being vegan, I used to make some smoky cheese spread that I liked so much. I could never get enough of it! Luckily this smoked tofu spread makes a really good job and now it’s my new go-to vegan spread ????.
The cheese that I was using in the recipe back then was homemade, quite similar to the Indian paneer. So, smoked tofu was out of the question. I used instead regular firm tofu to which I added smoked paprika to recreate that taste I used to love. Plus, regular tofu combined with smoked paprika gives a nice color to this spread, as opposed to dark brown smoked tofu, right?!
And, since I like spicy food, chili powder can’t miss from this recipe. Another important ingredient here is onion. I used yellow onion, but a small shallot would also work.
To make the spread creamy, I used a bit of soy cream, but you can substitute with a smaller quantity of unsweetened soy milk. Or just add more cream or milk to make this a vegan tofu dip.
And to add a cheesy taste, nutritional yeast is a must ????.

How to make smoked tofu spread
This is actually really easy. Just place all ingredients in a high speed blender and process until you get a smooth paste. Not exactly a recipe, right? ????
You can serve it on toast, crispbread, crackers or with fresh veggies.
This spread keeps well in the fridge for about 3-4 days, in an airtight container.
